FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I primarily provide telehealth therapy sessions.  I have found that telehealth offers the most flexibility, convenience, and comfort for my clients.

Our first conversation will be a complimentary 15 minute consultation.  Subsequently, our intake therapy session will be one hour. Future sessions after the intake will be 45 minutes. We will schedule sessions to meet your needs. Usually sessions are scheduled weekly, but we may decide to have sessions either more or less frequently, depending on your concerns and needs.

I provide individual therapy and counseling for adults aged 18 and older who reside in New York.  I do not offer family or couples therapy.

Finding the right therapist is an important step in your healing journey. To help you determine if we’re the right fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. During this time, we can discuss your needs, goals, and what you’re looking for in therapy. I’ll share more about my approach and answer any questions you may have. This conversation is a chance to ensure you feel comfortable and confident about working with me. Ultimately, the best fit comes down to whether you feel supported, understood, and empowered in therapy.

While the terms therapy and counseling are often used interchangeably, they have key differences. Counseling typically focuses on addressing specific challenges or life transitions, such as stress, relationship issues, or career changes, offering short-term solutions and coping strategies. Therapy, on the other hand, often delves deeper into emotional patterns, past experiences, and underlying issues, providing long-term support for personal growth and healing.

Both approaches can be valuable depending on your needs. Whether you’re looking for guidance through a tough situation or deeper self-exploration and healing, I’m here to help you navigate the path that’s right for you.

While I am not in-network with any insurance plans, I will work with you to determine your out-of-network benefits and provide you with all the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement or use for your FSA/HSA account.  If your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits, a portion of psychotherapy expenses may be covered by your insurance policy. I encourage you to call your insurance company and ask them the following questions:
  • Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient behavioral health?
  • What is my deductible and how much of it has been met?
  • What is the reimbursement rate for a therapy session, using the following codes:
    • 90834 for 45 minute session
    • 90837 for 60 minute session
  • Do I need preauthorization?
  • Are there any limits to reimbursement? For example, a maximum amount reimbursed per session, or a limit on the number of sessions allowed.

I’ve also partnered with Mentaya, an optional service that streamlines getting clients reimbursed for their therapy sessions through out-of-network benefit

You can securely pay for your sessions by providing your credit card information via the Client Portal. Venmo, Zelle, FSA and all major credit cards are accepted.

Yes, if you do not give at least 24 hours notice before cancelling or rescheduling your appointment, you will be charged your full session fee.

I do NOT prescribe medication. However, if you’re interested in exploring psychotropic medication as part of your treatment, I’d be happy to help you find a qualified provider. You can pursue therapy with or without the use of medication. Many of my clients choose to start with therapy alone or use it alongside psychotropic medications, depending on what feels right for them.

Sessions are still 100% confidential. I use a secure, HIPAA compliant system through SimplePractice to provide online accessibility to my clients.

When you book a virtual session, the link for your appointment will be sent to you either via text or email (depending on your appointment reminder preferences).
